This reserve at the end of Kākā Street is home to the source of the Awataha Stream and has deep significance to local mana whenua. The flow-on effects from Te Ara Awataha will be significant, contributing to numerous ecological and social improvements the whole community will benefit from for years to come.
The Te Ara Awataha restoration project is a collaboration between Kaipātiki Project, Panuku Development and Auckland Council, to regenerate Jessie Tonar Scout Reserve. As part of the wider Te Ara Awataha, Kaipātiki Project is working on a community-led restoration of the Jessie Tonar Scout Reserve.
