Volunteer with Kaipātiki Project

Join our environmental volunteering whānau to get up close with nature and work alongside our team and other local volunteers. From bush restoration, weeding and trapping to growing and planting, many hands make light work. We’ve got volunteering opportunities for people all ages, schools and youth groups and community groups.

Working together, we restore our native plants, birds, bugs and fish in our urban environment. Give back to your community and feel the wonder of making a difference.

Everyone is welcome!

Every year, we eco-source, propagate and pot up a massive 30,000+ native plants. Our volunteers use these plants in restoration activities all over the Auckland’s North, helping to rescue the bush from invasive plants and restore homes for our native animals and plants.

  • All ages are welcome - we love bringing different generations together.
  • You can volunteer regularly, or on a one-off basis.
  • We welcome people living with disabilities. Ask us about our two-week ‘starter pack’ trial.
  • We help people on all stages of their sustainable living journey – we’ll help you wherever you’re at.
  • We even give tertiary students and interns the volunteering experience they need for course requirements.

Verran Eskdale restoration group
A community 'weeds-to-natives' project around the Eskdale stream network in Birkenhead. One of our key focus areas, where we reduce weeds and trap pest animals.
