Volunteer opportunities for Schools & Youth groups

We work with young people from schools and colleges who volunteer as a group, usually when the school timetable allows for some time out of the classroom.

Does your school have an environmental or sustainability group?

Is your school looking for end-of-year activities that have a community focus?

The students attend with school staff and are taken out into the bush to carry out a range of supervised bush revival work with our staff. There is no charge to the school for this opportunity.

Activities include weeding, mulching, clearing the bush of rubbish, and planting trees (during winter).

Students gain practical skills and experience, such as:

  • Correct and safe use of tools
  • Sustainable bush restoration techniques (chemical-free kaupapa)
  • Basic ecology including native and weed plant identification
  • And best of all, they get to do manual work outdoors and give back to the environment.

Our restoration work typically happens around the Eskdale Reserve Network and Hobsonville Point areas of Auckland.

If you would like students to volunteer with Kaipātiki Project, please contact Sam on 021 0233 2820 or community@kaipatiki.org.nz.
