Young children love to explore, and our Nature Detectives morning course is perfect for little learners.
Children learn how to pot up vegetable plants to take home – and learn about healthy eating and how plants grow. We teach them about the worms under their feet, and the improvements they make to soil.
Then it’s off to the bush to discover kawakawa, spiders, silver ferns, harakeke and hopefully kereru. The children learn it takes all five senses to become a true Nature Detective and leave with the skills to explore the forests of New Zealand.
While the session is aimed at very young people, there’s a strong emphasis on giving adults some new ideas and ways to engage in the bush safely and enjoyably with their children.
Our Nature Detectives programme does not run between July – September. We take the kids outside and the risk of rain, mud and damp children is too high.
